Device and method for sensor-based inspection of an object

A device for sensor-based inspection of a physical object, wherein the device comprises:

• a transportation device for transporting, along a transportation path, a physical object to be inspected;
• an image sensor system with at least one image sensor for image sensor-based acquisition of the object at least in portions, while the object is continuously moved relative to the image sensor system along the transportation path by the transportation device;
• an illumination device for illuminating, in a wavelength range that can be detected by the image sensor system, a respective surface of the object to be inspected, so that the image sensor system can perform image sensor-based acquisition of the surface, at least in portions, in a surface area illuminated in this way;
• and
• a shielding device for shielding the image sensor system from radiation not originating from the illumination device;
• wherein the image sensor system has a number N, with N≥1, of digital line cameras each with a plurality of camera pixels arranged in a line, wherein the lines of the line cameras each run transversely to the transportation path.
