Machine and method for cutting slabs made of stone or ceramic or glass material

A machine for cutting slabs made of stone or ceramic or glass material, comprising:

• a support bench for the slabs to be cut;
• a machining unit comprising at least one nozzle for cutting the slabs by means of high-pressure waterjet with abrasive and a cutting disc designed to form a groove in the slabs along a cutting direction, said cutting disc and said at least one nozzle being mounted on a support head;
• first displacement means and second displacement means intended to displace the machining unit at least along the cutting direction and along a vertical direction perpendicular to the support bench, respectively;
• and
• first movement means configured to move said at least one nozzle with respect to said support head from a retracted or rest position into an extracted operating position, and vice versa;
• wherein said machine comprises positioning means configured to place said at least one nozzle behind said cutting disc along the cutting direction with an orientation such that the waterjet enters into the groove formed by the cutting disc and strikes a bottom vertex thereof and in that said at least one nozzle and said cutting disc are activated simultaneously during displacement along the cutting direction.
