Systems and methods for collecting and transporting biofuel components

A method of capturing and disposing of fats, oil and/or grease, the method comprising:

• (a) providing, in a grease trap comprising a mixture of water and fats, oil, and/or grease, a porous container formed of a porous fabric, wherein the porous container comprises a plurality of pores with an apparent opening size (AOS) of 0.25 mm to 0.5 mm, wherein the porous container is filled with an absorbent material capable of absorbing a quantity of the fats, oil, and/or grease through the porous fabric of the porous container, wherein the absorbent material is selected from the group consisting of sphagnum peat, mushroom compost, and combinations thereof;
• (b) tethering the porous container and the absorbent material contained therein proximate to an exit of the grease trap;
• (c) removing the fats, oil, and/or grease located within the grease trap while the water and the porous container remain in the grease trap;
• and
• (d) transporting the fats, oil, and/or grease of step (c) away from the grease trap.
