Abstract
A process produces optionally at least partially saponified wax esters and corresponding products are obtainable by the process. Wax esters produced by the process find application in topical applications.
Claims15
A process for producing an optionally at least partially saponified wax ester, the process comprising:
- A) providing a natural wax,
- B) oxidizing the natural wax to a natural wax oxidate,
- C) esterifying the natural wax oxidate with at least one polyol, optionally additionally with at least one selected from monocarboxylic acids and polycarboxylic acids, and optionally
- D) at least partially saponifying the wax ester obtained in C),
- with the proviso that, if only one polyol is used in C), said one polyol has a hydroxyl value of less than 1240 mg KOH/g.
