Abstract
Examples disclosed herein relate to playback device calibration. A calibration state variable may represent a calibration state of a playback device. A control device may display an indications of the calibration state. For instance, in a first instance, the control device may display an indication that a first playback device is in an uncalibrated state. Further, in a second instance, the control device may display an indication that the first playback device is in an calibrated state, perhaps after instructing the first playback device to initiate calibration.
Claims20
A media playback system comprising:
- at least one network interface;
- at least one processor;
- a first playback device comprising at least one audio transducer;
- at least one control device comprising at least one microphone;
- and
- at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising program instructions that are executable by the at least one processor such that the media playback system is configured to:
- detect a trigger condition indicating that the first playback device, within a first environment, has become uncalibrated,
- after detecting the trigger condition, analyzing, using the at least one microphone and the at least one audio transducer, the first environment and a placement of the first playback device within the first environment, and
- based on the analysis, adjusting the first playback device to improve an acoustic characteristic of the first playback device within the first environment.
A method, performed by a computing system having at least one processor and at least one memory, for calibrating a media playback system, the method comprising:
- detecting a trigger condition indicating that a first playback device comprising at least one audio transducer, within a first environment, has become uncalibrated;
- after detecting the trigger condition, analyzing, using at least one microphone of a control device and the at least one audio transducer, the first environment and a placement of the first playback device within the first environment;
- and
- based on the analysis, adjusting the first playback device to improve an acoustic characteristic of the first playback device within the first environment.
A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a media playback system, cause the media playback system to perform operations comprising:
- detecting a trigger condition indicating that a first playback device comprising at least one audio transducer, within a first environment, has become uncalibrated;
- after detecting the trigger condition, analyzing, using at least one microphone of a control device and the at least one audio transducer, the first environment and a placement of the first playback device within the first environment;
- and
- based on the analysis, adjusting the first playback device to improve an acoustic characteristic of the first playback device within the first environment.
