System and method for installing tool for use with artificial lift mandrel

An artificial lift system for use on a tubing string in a borehole, the artificial lift system comprising:

• a plurality of mandrel assemblies being deployed on the tubing string in the borehole, each mandrel assembly having an uphole end coupled to the tubing string and having a downhole end coupled to the tubing string, each mandrel assembly defining a throughbore extending between the uphole end and the downhole end, the throughbore defining (i) a lock profile, (ii) an uphole seal bore profile toward the uphole end, and (iii) a downhole seal bore profile toward the downhole end, the mandrel assembly defining a borehole port communicating outside the mandrel assembly;
• a plurality of gas lift valves being installed respectively in the mandrel assemblies, each gas lift valve being associated with the borehole port and being configured to control fluid communication between the throughbore and the borehole;
• a valve system disposed at surface in communication with the borehole and the tubing string, the valve system being configured to supply injected fluid and being configured to receive produced fluid during an initial gas lift operation using the gas lift valves up to a decline of the produced fluid;
• and
• at least one tool assembly being removably installed in the throughbore of at least one of the mandrel assemblies adjacent the respective gas lift valve after the decline of the produced fluid in the initial gas lift operation, the at least one tool assembly having:
• (i) a lock being releasably engageable with the lock profile, (ii) an uphole seal being sealably engageable with the uphole seal bore profile, (iii) a downhole seal being sealably engageable with the downhole seal bore profile, and (iv) an auxiliary tool having at least one annulus port configured to communicate with an annular area of the throughbore sealed by the uphole seal and the downhole seal, the respective gas lift valve and the auxiliary tool being configured to control fluid communication between the throughbore and the borehole, the valve system being configured to supply the injected fluid and being configured to receive the produced fluid during a modified gas lift operation using the respective gas lift valve and the auxiliary tool after the initial gas lift operation.
