Filter system for handheld containers of consumable liquids

A liquid filtration system, comprising:

• a filter subsystem configured to attach to external threads of a container opening of a container holding a consumable liquid, and to pass the liquid therethrough, the filter subsystem comprising:
• a filter cartridge configured to pass the consumable liquid therethrough to filter micro-particulates therefrom, the filter cartridge comprising a top endcap, a bottom endcap, a filter media secured between the top endcap and the bottom endcap, and a central liquid pathway internal to the filter media and which extends between the top endcap and bottom endcap;
• an attachment mechanism comprising a tightening body, the tightening body comprising an annular center with a top opening having external threads and a bottom opening having internal threads, the tightening body configured to receive the bottom endcap of the filter cartridge through the top opening, through the annular center, and through the container opening, and further configured to position the top endcap against the top opening of the annular center, the internal threads of the tightening body configured to tighten directly onto the external threads of the container opening and without any interstitial connection between the internal threads of the tightening body and the external threads of the container opening;
• the attachment mechanism further comprises a secondary cover configured with internal threads and external threads distal to the internal threads, the internal threads of the secondary cover tighten onto the external threads at the top opening of the tightening body to secure the top endcap of the filter cartridge against the top opening of the tightening body;
• and
• a draw-through object proximate the external threads of the secondary cover and configured to enable access to the consumable liquid from the filter cartridge, the draw-through object is fabricated as part of the secondary cover and fabricated proximate the external threads of the secondary cover.

A liquid filtration system, comprising:

• a filter subsystem configured to attach to external threads of a container opening of a container holding a consumable liquid, and to pass the liquid therethrough, the filter subsystem comprising:
• a filter cartridge configured to pass the consumable liquid therethrough, the filter cartridge comprising a top endcap, a bottom endcap, a filter media secured between the top endcap and the bottom endcap, and a central liquid pathway internal to the filter media and which extends between the top endcap and bottom endcap;
• an attachment mechanism comprising a tightening body, the tightening body comprising an annular center with a top opening having external threads and a bottom opening having internal threads, the tightening body configured to receive the bottom endcap of the filter cartridge through the top opening, through the annular center, and through the container opening, and further configured to position the top endcap against the top opening of the annular center, the internal threads of the tightening body are configured to tighten directly onto the external threads of the container opening;
• the attachment mechanism further comprises a secondary cover configured with internal threads and external threads distal to the internal threads, the internal threads of the secondary cover tighten onto the external threads at the top opening of the tightening body to secure the top endcap of the filter cartridge against the top opening of the tightening body, the top endcap of the filter cartridge fabricated as a top endcap gasket having a beveled opening, the beveled opening configured to compressively seal against an internal bottom part of a secondary cover, the internal bottom part located above the internal threads of the secondary cover;
• a draw-through object proximate the external threads of the secondary cover, the draw-through object configured to enable access to the consumable liquid from the filter cartridge;
• and
• a riser part configured as part of the attachment mechanism, the riser part of a specified length and configured to accommodate a filter cartridge compatible with the specified length, the riser part further configured to capture the top endcap of the filter cartridge to form a captured filter cartridge, when installed internal to the riser part, the length of the captured filter cartridge extends at least one of above the container opening or below the container opening.

A method of liquid filtration, comprising:

• receiving a filter cartridge of a length based on dimensions of a container and container opening;
• determining an upper portion length of the filter cartridge to position above the container opening and determining a remaining lower portion length of the filter cartridge to position proximate the container opening;
• receiving a riser part which captures an upper endcap at the upper portion of the filter cartridge and encloses the upper portion length of the filter cartridge;
• configuring a draw-through object as part of the riser part and proximate the upper endcap;
• inserting the remaining lower portion length of the filter cartridge through the container opening;
• securing a bottom end of the riser part directly to the external threads at the container opening;
• and
• filtering micro-particulates from the consumable liquid as the consumable liquid passes through the filter cartridge in response to user action relative to at least one of the container walls or the draw-through object.
