Method for decoding a data stream, associated device and associated data stream

A decoding device comprising:

• a local memory;
• a receiver configured to receive at least one part of a data stream, said at least one part comprising an indicator and representative data that is representative of an audio or video content;
• and
• one or more processors configured to:
• decode the indicator which has a value among a first value and a second value different from the first value, the first value indicating that an artificial neural network to be used to decode said representative data is encoded in the at least one part of the data stream, the second value indicating that the artificial neural network to be used to decode the representative data is accessible by the decoding device;
• select among a first decoding process and a second decoding process based on the decoded indicator, wherein the first decoding process is selected when the decoded indicator has the first value and the second decoding process is selected when the decoded indicator has the second value;
• the first decoding process comprising decoding parameters of the artificial neural network from the at least one part of the data stream, and decoding the representative data using the artificial neural network configured with the decoded parameters,
• the second decoding process comprising reading parameters of the artificial neural network stored in the local memory, or requesting from a remote server parameters of the artificial neural network, and decoding said representative data using the artificial neural network configured with the read or received parameters;
• and
• perform the selected first or second decoding process.

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions stored thereon which when executed by at least one processor of a decoding device configure the decoding device to perform a method for decoding at least one part of a data stream, said at least one part including an indicator and representative data that is representative of an audio or video content, the method comprising:

• decoding the indicator which has a value among a first value and a second value different from the first value, the first value indicating that an artificial neural network to be used to decode said representative data is encoded in the at least one part of the data stream, the second value indicating that the artificial neural network to be used to decode the representative data is accessible by the decoding device,
• selecting among a first decoding process and a second decoding process based on the decoded indicator, wherein the first decoding process is selected when the decoded indicator has the first value and the second decoding process is selected when the decoded indicator has the second value,
• the first decoding process comprising decoding parameters of the artificial neural network from the at least one part of the data stream, and decoding the representative data using the artificial neural network configured with the decoded parameters,
• the second decoding process comprising reading parameters of the artificial neural network stored in a local memory of the decoding device, or requesting from a remote server parameters of the artificial neural network, and decoding said representative data using the artificial neural network configured with the read or received parameters;
• and
• performing the selected first or second decoding process.
