Abstract
Systems and methods of delegating media capturing functionality from one device to another are presented. A first device configured with an object recognition engine captures a media representation of an environment and identifies an object within that environment. Then based on matched object traits from a database, the engine selects a delegation rules set, and delegates certain media capturing functionality to a second device according to the selected delegation rules set.

1-24. (canceled)
A computer-based digital rights management system comprising:
- a first media capturing device configured to obtain a media representation of an environment;
- an object database storing object traits associated with known objects, wherein at least some of the object traits comprise digital rights information;
- a rules database storing at least one delegation rules set indexed according to the object traits, wherein the delegation rules set comprises one or more geographic location requirements;
- an object recognition engine communicatively coupled with the first media capturing device, the object database, and the rules database, wherein the object recognition engine performs the following operations:
- identify at least one object from the media representation using object recognition characteristics derived from the media representation;
- obtain object traits associated with the identified object from the object database;
- select a delegation rules set as a function of the obtained object traits;
- determine whether the first media capturing device is located within a predetermined geolocation area based on the one or more geographic location requirements in the delegation rules set;
- and
- delegate at least some media capturing functionality to a second media capturing device according to the delegation rules set when the first media capturing device is determined to be located within the predetermined geolocation area.
A location-based method for managing access to digital content comprising:
- obtaining a media representation of an environment at a first media capturing device;
- identifying at least one object from the media representation using object recognition characteristics derived from the media representation;
- obtaining object traits associated with the identified object from an object database configured to store object traits associated with known objects, wherein at least some of the object traits comprise digital rights information;
- selecting from a rules database a delegation rules set as a function of the obtained object traits, wherein the rules database is configured to store at least one delegation rules set indexed according to one or more object traits, wherein the at least one delegation rules set comprises one or more geographic location requirements;
- determining whether the first media capturing device is located within a predetermined geolocation area based on the one or more geographic location requirements in the delegation rules set;
- and
- delegating at least some media capturing functionality to a second media capturing device according to the delegation rules set when the first media capturing device is determined to be located within the predetermined geolocation area.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising at least one non-transitory computer readable memory configured for storing one or more computer-readable instructions, which upon execution by one or more processors, perform the following operations:
- obtaining a media representation of an environment using a first media capturing device;
- storing object traits associated with known objects in an object database, wherein at least some of the object traits comprise digital rights information;
- storing in a rules database at least one delegation rules set indexed according to the object traits, wherein the at least one delegation rules set comprises one or more geographic location requirements;
- identifying at least one object from the media representation using object recognition characteristics derived from the media representation;
- obtaining object traits associated with the identified object from the object database;
- selecting a delegation rules set as a function of the obtained object traits;
- determining whether the first media capturing device is located within a predetermined geolocation area based on the one or more geographic location requirements in the delegation rules set;
- and
- delegating at least some media capturing functionality to a second media capturing device according to the delegation rules set when the first media capturing device is determined to be located within the predetermined geolocation area.
