Bed system and method for providing personalized bedtime reminders

A system comprising:

• a bed;
• a controller connected to the bed;
• and
• a server in communication with the controller, the server comprising a processor and a computer-readable memory, the server configured to:
• receive data that is representative of historic sleep times and historic wake times for a user of the bed from the controller;
• determine, based on the data that is representative of historic sleep times and historic wake times for the user, a sleep regularity factor for the user and a chronotype of the user;
• train a machine learning model to determine a sleep onset time for the user based on the data that is representative of historic sleep time and historic wake times for the user;
• use the machine learning model to determine the sleep onset time for the user;
• responsive to determining a sleep onset time for the user, determine a target time to communicate a bedtime reminder notification to the user;
• determine that the target time to communicate the bedtime reminder notification to the user is approaching;
• based on determining that the target time to communicate the bedtime reminder to the user is approaching, determine whether the user is in the bed;
• and
• based on determining that the user is not in the bed, communicate the bedtime reminder notification to the user.

A system comprising:

• a bed;
• a controller connected to the bed;
• and
• a server in communication with the controller, the server comprising a processor and a computer-readable memory, the server configured to:
• receive data that is representative of historic sleep times and historic wake times for a user of the bed from the controller;
• train a machine learning model to determine a sleep onset time for the user based on the data that is representative of historic sleep times and historic wake times for the user;
• use the machine learning model to determine the sleep onset time for the user;
• responsive to determining a sleep onset time for the user, determine a target time to communicate a bedtime reminder notification to the user;
• determine that the target time to communicate the bedtime reminder notification to the user is approaching;
• based on determining that the target time to communicate the bedtime reminder to the user is approaching, determine whether the user is in the bed;
• based on determining that the user is in the bed, determine whether the user is awake;
• and
• based on determining that the user is awake, communicate the bedtime reminder notification to the user.
