Abstract
A visual effects system includes a display configured to present a series of image frames and a mirror positioned to reflect the series of image frames to generate reflected image frames. The visual effects system also includes a drive system coupled to the mirror, wherein the drive system is configured to drive movement of the mirror to adjust a perceived depth of the reflected image frames to produce volumetric imagery for visualization by a guest.
Claims20
A visual effects system, comprising:
- a display configured to present a series of image frames;
- a first mirror with a first reflective surface facing toward the display to reflect the series of image frames to generate reflected image frames;
- a second mirror with a second reflective surface facing toward the first reflective surface to reflect the reflected image frames;
- and
- a drive system coupled to the first mirror and the second mirror, wherein the drive system is configured to drive movement of the first mirror and the second mirror to adjust a perceived depth of the reflected image frames to produce volumetric imagery for visualization by a guest.
A method of operating a visual effects system, the method comprising:
- generating, via one or more processors, image data for a display;
- instructing, via the one or more processors, transmission of the image data to the display, wherein the display is configured to display a series of image frames based on the image data;
- reflecting, via a first mirror, the series of image frames to generate reflected image frames;
- reflecting, via a second mirror, the reflected image frames to a guest in a guest area;
- and
- moving, via a drive system, the first mirror and the second mirror to adjust a perceived depth of the reflected image frames to produce volumetric imagery for visualization by the guest.
A tangible, non-transitory, computer-readable medium, comprising instructions that, when executed by processing circuitry, causes the processing circuitry to:
- generate a series of image data for a display;
- instruct transmission of the series of image frames to the display to cause the display to display the series of image frames toward a first mirror configured to reflect the series of image frames toward a second mirror;
- and
- instruct a drive system to move the first mirror, the second mirror, or both to adjust a perceived depth of the reflected series of image frames to produce volumetric imagery for visualization by a guest.
