Abstract
A connection system for modular construction units is disclosed. The system includes a first connection plate with a locator hole and a bolt hole, and a connection pin passable through the locator hole. A second connection plate with a bolt hole is provided, along with a connector passing through the bolt holes of both plates to connect them. This system enables efficient and secure connection of modular construction units, facilitating rapid assembly and disassembly for various applications.
Claims20
A connection system for connecting modular construction units, wherein:
- a first connection plate, comprising:
- a locator hole passing through a thickness of the first connection plate,
- a bolt hole passing through the thickness of the first connection plate;
- a connection pin sized and shaped such that a portion of the connection pin is passable through the locator hole;
- a second connection plate, comprising a bolt hole;
- and
- a connector configured to pass through the bolt hole of the first connection plate and the bolt hole of the second connection plate such that the first connection plate and the second connection plate are connected.
A kit for connecting modular construction units, the kit comprising:
- a connection system including:
- a first connection plate having a locator hole and a bolt hole passing through its thickness,
- a connection pin sized and shaped to pass through the locator hole,
- a second connection plate having a bolt hole, and
- a connector configured to pass through the bolt holes of the first and second connection plates to connect them;
- and
- a plurality of modular construction units, each unit including at least one beam.
A method of connecting modular construction units, the method comprising:
- providing a connection system including a first connection plate having a locator hole and a bolt hole, a connection pin sized to pass through the locator hole, a second connection plate having a bolt hole, and a connector;
- positioning the first connection plate on a first modular construction unit;
- positioning the second connection plate on a second modular construction unit;
- inserting the connection pin through the locator hole of the first connection plate;
- and
- connecting the first and second connection plates using the connector through their respective bolt holes.
