Abstract
To provide a glass material and a magnetic optical element with a reduced thermal lens effect. A glass material contains, in mol %, from 10% to 90% of Tb2O3, from 1% to 89% of B2O3+Al2O3+SiO2+P2O5, and from 0.01 ppm to 100 ppm of FeO+Fe2O3, and further contains, as an external proportion, from 0.001% to 1% of CeO2.

A glass material comprising, in mol %, from 10% to 90% of Tb2O3, from 1% to 89% of B2O3+Al2O3+SiO2+P2O5, and from 0.01 ppm to 100 ppm of FeO+Fe2O3, and further comprising, as an external proportion, from 0.001% to 1% of CeO2.
