Abstract
A brine maker comprises a hopper including a bottom floor and multiple sides. The sides form a top opening to receive a solute from above the brine maker. A partition screen separates a solute side of the hopper from a brine side of the hopper. The solute side of the hopper is defined in part by the sides and the bottom floor. Solvent ports are located adjacent to the bottom floor and are configured to direct a solvent from the solvent ports across the bottom floor of the hopper toward the partition screen.
Claims20
A brine maker having a substantially cuboid shape, the brine maker comprising:
- a hopper having a bottom-most floor and a plurality of sides, the sides forming a top opening through which a solute is receivable from above the brine maker;
- a partition screen separating a solute side of the hopper from a brine side of the hopper;
- and
- a plurality of solvent ports located adjacent to and along the bottom-most floor of the hopper, the solvent ports configured to direct a solvent from the solvent ports across the bottom-most floor of the hopper toward the partition screen.
A brine maker comprising:
- a hopper including a bottom floor and a plurality of sides, wherein the sides form a top opening to receive a solute from above the brine maker;
- a partition screen separating a solute side of the hopper from a brine side of the hopper, the solute side of the hopper defined in part by the sides and the bottom floor;
- and
- a plurality of solvent ports configured to direct a solvent from the solvent ports across the bottom floor of the hopper toward the partition screen, wherein the solvent ports are located adjacent to the bottom floor.
A brine maker comprising:
- a hopper including a bottom floor and a plurality of sides, wherein the sides form a top opening to receive a solute from above the brine maker, and the hopper is configured to direct the solute to the bottom floor;
- a partition screen separating a solute side of the hopper from a brine side of the hopper;
- and
- a plurality of solvent ports located adjacent to the bottom floor and configured to direct a solvent from the solvent ports across the bottom floor of the hopper toward the partition screen, wherein the hopper is arranged so that a brine solution, formed from the solvent and the solute, gathers on the bottom floor and passes through the partition screen to the brine side of the hopper.
