Abstract
The embodiments described herein may relate to methods and systems for adjusting insulin delivery. Some methods and systems may be configured to adjust insulin delivery to personalize automated insulin delivery for a person with diabetes. Such personalization may include adjusting user specific dosage parameters in response to one or more back-filled time segments associated with a diurnal time block.
Claims20
A method of automated insulin delivery, comprising:
- (a) receiving, at a controller, glucose data for a person with diabetes from a glucose measurement device comprising a glucose sensor;
- (b) generating a plurality of candidate basal insulin delivery profiles, each candidate basal insulin delivery profile comprising a sequence of basal insulin delivery actions over a specific time interval;
- (c) predicting, using a physiological model and based on at least the glucose data and insulin delivery information, a plurality of predicted future glucose values corresponding to each candidate basal insulin delivery profile;
- (d) determining, for each candidate basal insulin delivery profile, a metric that represents a variation between the plurality of predicted future glucose values and one or more target glucose values;
- (e) selecting a basal insulin delivery profile from the plurality of candidate basal insulin delivery profiles based at least in part on the metric;
- (f) causing an insulin delivery device to deliver basal insulin according to a next insulin delivery action of the selected basal insulin delivery profile during a delivery interval;
- and
- (g) repeating (a)-(f) to update the selected basal insulin delivery profile at a frequency based at least in part on the glucose data.
A system comprising:
- an insulin delivery device configured to deliver insulin to a person with diabetes;
- and
- a controller in communication with the insulin delivery device, the controller configured to:
- (a) receive glucose data for a person with diabetes from a glucose measurement device comprising a glucose sensor;
- (b) generate a plurality of candidate basal insulin delivery profiles, each candidate basal insulin delivery profile comprising a sequence of basal insulin delivery actions over a specific time interval;
- (c) predict, using a physiological model and based on at least the glucose data and insulin delivery information, a plurality of predicted future glucose values corresponding to each candidate basal insulin delivery profile;
- (d) determine, for each candidate basal insulin delivery profile, a metric that represents a variation between the plurality of predicted future glucose values and one or more target glucose values;
- (e) select a basal insulin delivery profile from the plurality of candidate basal insulin delivery profiles based at least in part on the metric;
- (f) cause an insulin delivery device to deliver basal insulin according to a next insulin delivery action of the selected basal insulin delivery profile during a delivery interval;
- and
- (g) repeat (a)-(f) to update the selected basal insulin delivery profile at a frequency based at least in part on the glucose data.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
- (a) receive glucose data for a person with diabetes from a glucose measurement device comprising a glucose sensor;
- (b) generate a plurality of candidate basal insulin delivery profiles, each candidate basal insulin delivery profile comprising a sequence of basal insulin delivery actions over a specific time interval;
- (c) predict, using a physiological model and based on at least the glucose data and insulin delivery information, a plurality of predicted future glucose values corresponding to each candidate basal insulin delivery profile;
- (d) determine, for each candidate basal insulin delivery profile, a metric that represents a variation between the plurality of predicted future glucose values and one or more target glucose values;
- (e) select a basal insulin delivery profile from the plurality of candidate basal insulin delivery profiles based at least in part on the metric;
- (f) cause an insulin delivery device to deliver basal insulin according to a next insulin delivery action of the selected basal insulin delivery profile during a delivery interval;
- and
- (g) repeat (a)-(f) to update the selected basal insulin delivery profile at a frequency based at least in part on the glucose data.
