Abstract
A stent for insertion into the lumen of an anatomical vessel or duct including a helical coil embedded in a polymer tube. The helical coil includes expandable part, which is able to be in a compressed or expended configuration. The polymer tube is radially rigid to prevent reduction of the diameter of the turns of the helical coil when the stent is twisted.

A stent for insertion into a lumen of an anatomical vessel or duct comprising:
- a polymer tube whose hollow part defines a longitudinal axis;
- a single wire forming a helical coil comprising:
- a series of consecutive turns embedded in the polymer tube, and
- at least one expandable part able to be either in a compressed configuration or in an expanded configuration, said at least one expandable part being a shape-memory material;
- wherein the helical coil has an axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis;
- and
- wherein the polymer tube is radially rigid to prevent reduction of diameter of the consecutive turns of the helical coil embedded in the polymer tube upon twisting of the stent around the longitudinal axis.
