Abstract
Disclosed are polymer compositions comprising activated carbon and method of making the polymer compositions. The activated carbon, which may be tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane impregnated activated carbon, is entrained in at least one base polymer with optional channels throughout. The polymer composition may be in the form of a film disposed within at least one cavity of a blister pack.
Claims17
A blister pack, comprising:
- a backing;
- a cover attached to the backing;
- at least one cavity formed by a combination of the backing and the cover;
- and
- an entrained polymer film disposed in the at least one cavity, the entrained polymer film having an effect of reducing a volatile organic compound from within the at least one cavity, the entrained polymer film comprising a mixture of:
- (a) a base polymer selected from polypropylene, polyethylene, polyisoprene, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), polylactic acid (PLA), polybutylene succinate (PBS), polyhexene, polybutadiene, polybutene, polysiloxane, polycarbonate, polyamide, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-methacrylate copolymer, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene, polyester, polyanhydride, polyacrylonitrile, polysulfone, polyacrylic ester, acrylic, polyurethane, polyacetal, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), a copolymer, or a combination thereof;
- and
- (b) tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane impregnated activated carbon.
