An inspection apparatus comprising:

• a through-beam sensor that detects a recording medium on which an image has been formed;
• and
• a hardware processor that determines whether density unevenness is present, based on a detection result by the through-beam sensor.

An inspection method comprising:

• detecting, by a through-beam sensor, a recording medium on which an image has been formed;
• and
• determining, by a hardware processor, whether density unevenness is present, based on a detection result by the through-beam sensor.
