Abstract
Device for interception of incoming ordnance, comprises a dispersion unit to disperse an explosive cloud in an expected path of the incoming ordnance, a proximity detector to detect proximity of the incoming ordnance in relation to the explosive cloud; and an ignition unit associated with said proximity detector that ignites the explosive cloud to disrupt the incoming ordnance.
Claims20
Device for interception of incoming ordnance at altitudes lacking sufficient atmospheric oxygen to support an explosion, the device comprising:
- a detector configured to detect incoming ordnance and determine an expected path and timing of said incoming ordnance;
- a dispersion unit configured to disperse a cloud of detonatable material at said altitudes over a volume selected to affect said ordnance as said ordnance follows said expected path, the detonatable material dispersed as droplets, the droplets comprising oxidizer and energetic material.
Device for interception of incoming ordnance at altitudes lacking sufficient atmospheric oxygen to support an explosion, the device comprising:
- a detector configured to detect incoming ordnance and determine an expected path and timing of said incoming ordnance;
- a dispersion unit configured to disperse a cloud of detonatable material over a volume selected to affect said ordnance as said ordnance follows said expected path, the detonatable material dispersed as droplets, the droplets comprising oxidizer.
Device for interception of incoming ordnance at altitudes lacking sufficient atmospheric oxygen to support an explosion, the device comprising:

- a dispersion unit configured to disperse a cloud of detonatable material over a volume selected to affect said ordnance as said ordnance follows said expected path, the detonatable material dispersed as droplets, the droplets comprising energetic material.
Device for disruption of incoming ordnance, comprising:
- a first detector configured to detect incoming ordnance and determine an expected path and timing of said incoming ordnance;
- an undetonated cloud dispersion unit configured to disperse a cloud of undetonated material over a volume selected to affect said ordnance as said ordnance follows said expected path, said material being detonatable, wherein an action of the engine of the incoming ordnance provides detonation to said cloud.
Device for disruption of incoming ordnance, comprising:
- a first detector configured to detect incoming ordnance and determine an expected path and timing of said incoming ordnance;
- an undetonated cloud dispersion unit configured to disperse a cloud of undetonated material over a volume selected to affect said ordnance as said ordnance follows said expected path, said material being detonatable, wherein the incoming ordnance provides detonation for said cloud.
Device for disruption of incoming ordnance, comprising:
- a first detector configured to detect incoming ordnance and determine an expected path and timing of said incoming ordnance;
- an undetonated cloud dispersion unit configured to disperse a cloud of undetonated material over a volume selected to affect said ordnance as said ordnance follows said expected path, said material being detonatable, wherein detonation of said cloud depletes oxygen in a vicinity of said incoming ordnance, thereby to disable or extinguish a motor of said incoming ordnance.
