Abstract

A production method for a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet includes subjecting a grain-oriented electrical steel material at least to final cold rolling, and further to secondary recrystallization annealing. After the final cold rolling and before the secondary recrystallization annealing, an insulating masking agent is applied to a surface of a steel sheet, the masking agent is linearly removed in a direction intersecting a rolling direction by laser irradiation in an inert atmosphere, and thereafter electrolytic etching is performed to form linear grooves.
