A composition formulated to increase butyrate and Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) production in the digestive tract of a subject, the composition comprising (i) a plurality of polysaccharides comprising beta glucan and resistant potato starch, and (ii) one or more polyphenol-containing plant extracts, wherein the one or more polyphenol-containing plant extracts comprise resveratrol, turmeric extract powder, yellow kiwi fruit extract, green kiwi fruit extract, and/or lychee fruit extract.
