Abstract
The present disclosure provides a method and system for estimating the temperature of a working environment. Treatments that use laser and optical fiber technology may cause an undesirable increase in the temperature of a working environment. To that end, a laser source to generate light beams sensitive to a change in temperature can be generated and the temperature determined based on a distance between a distal end of the optical fiber and a target and the generated temperature sensitive light beam.

An apparatus comprising:
- a treatment light source configured to generate a treatment light beam for delivery to a target via an optical fiber;
- a temperature sensing subsystem configured to optically determine a temperature of a working environment proximate a distal end of the optical fiber based on measured optical signals;
- and
- control circuitry operatively coupled to the treatment light source and the temperature sensing subsystem,
- wherein the control circuitry is configured to:
- monitor the temperature of the working environment during delivery of the treatment light beam, and
- automatically modify at least one operating parameter of the treatment light source in response to the monitored temperature.
A method comprising:
- delivering a treatment light beam to a target via an optical fiber;
- optically sensing a temperature of a working environment proximate a distal end of the optical fiber during delivery of the treatment light beam;
- and
- automatically modifying at least one operating parameter of a treatment light source generating the treatment light beam in response to the sensed temperature.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by control circuitry of a laser system, cause the control circuitry to:
- control delivery of a treatment light beam to a target via an optical fiber;
- receive optical signals corresponding to a temperature of a working environment proximate a distal end of the optical fiber;
- determine the temperature based on the received optical signals;
- and
- automatically modify at least one operating parameter of a treatment light source in response to the determined temperature.
