A system for performing cold immersion with infrared light therapy, comprising: a reservoir or plunge chamber configured to contain water and submerge target tissue below a waterline; a set of near-infrared emitters positioned below the waterline and oriented toward the target tissue; a water-temperature sensor configured to measure and relay real-time temperature data to a controller; and a control system configured to: deliver light at 800-880 nm with an average irradiance of 60-160 mW/cm2 through 15-40 mm of water for 20-180 seconds; suppress spectral radiant power greater than 1400 nm by virtue of the water column; maintain epidermal temperature below 32° C. without direct skin sensing, using the measured water temperature and a pre-calibrated irradiance-time model; and limit session duration via a programmable timer to ensure therapeutic safety and consistency.
1) A system for performing cold immersion with infrared light therapy, comprising:
3) The system of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to automatically activate a pulsed mode between 10-100 Hz to enhance contrast-therapy effects while maintaining the total optical dose and thermal limits defined in claim 11.
13) A method of delivering therapeutic cold immersion with infrared light therapy, comprising:
