Methods for preventing and treating brain inflammation

A method for treating brain inflammation occurring after an onset of a brain injury in a subject, comprising administering to said subject after the onset of the brain injury a therapeutically effective amount of a protein or polypeptide comprising a polypeptide having at least 85% sequence identity with the amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO:

• 2, or a pharmaceutical composition comprising thereof,
• wherein said subject is administered with an initial dose of the protein or polypeptide, and is then perfused with the same for continuous administration.

A method for preventing, reducing, decreasing, and/or inhibiting neuronal death after an onset of a brain hemorrhage in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to said subject after an onset of the brain hemorrhage a therapeutically effective amount of a protein or polypeptide comprising a polypeptide that has at least 85% sequence identity with the amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO:

• 2, or a pharmaceutical composition comprising said protein or polypeptide,
• wherein said neuronal death occurs after the onset of the brain hemorrhage,
• and wherein said protein or polypeptide is administered within 120 hours after the onset of neuronal death and/or brain hemorrhage in said subject.
