A tube deploying system includes a handle having a pull mechanism and a nose assembly. The nose assembly includes a hollow cutting sheath, a positioning rod located within the hollow cutting sheath, an actuation member coupling the pull mechanism to the cutting sheath and a visual indicator coupled to the positioning rod. In an undeployed configuration, the cutting sheath is configured to pierce and manually advance a distal cutting edge through a membrane of a patient until an end of the visual indicator that protrudes through a slot in the cutting sheath is adjacent to the membrane. In a deployed configuration, the actuation member is configured to retract the cutting sheath from around the ventilation tube and along the visual indicator and the positioning rod to leave the ventilation tube in a deployed state in the membrane of the patient.
