Method for adjusting a system for stimulating a hypoglossal nerve

A system for delivering neurostimulation, the system comprising:

• one or more electrode contacts configured to be electrically coupled to a nerve of a patient;
• an implantable pulse generator (IPG) having at least one processor and at least one memory, the at least one memory storing instructions thereon, wherein the IPG is configured to deliver stimulation to the nerve via the one or more electrode contacts according to the instructions, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
• deliver the stimulation to the nerve of the patient at a first intensity;
• modify the stimulation from the first intensity to a second intensity;
• determine whether, in response to the stimulation being modified from the first intensity to the second intensity, a first physiological measurement has changed by a first amount and a second physiological measurement has changed by a second amount;
• in response to determining that both the first physiological measurement has changed by the first amount and the second physiological measurement has changed by the second amount, deliver the stimulation at the second intensity;
• and
• in response to determining that at least one of the first physiological measurement has not changed by the first amount or the second physiological measurement has not changed by the second amount, deliver the stimulation at the first intensity.

A method for delivering neurostimulation, the method comprising:

• delivering stimulation to a nerve of a patient at a first intensity;
• modifying the stimulation from the first intensity to a second intensity;
• determining whether, in response to the stimulation being modified from the first intensity to the second intensity, a first physiological measurement has changed by a first amount;
• determining whether, in response to the stimulation being modified from the first intensity to the second intensity, a second physiological measurement has changed by a second amount;
• and
• delivering the stimulation at the first intensity or the second intensity based on at least one of the determination of whether the first physiological measurement has changed by the first amount or the determination of whether the second physiological measurement has changed by the second amount.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media having stored thereon computer-executable instructions which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

• delivering stimulation to a hypoglossal nerve of a patient at a first intensity;
• modifying the stimulation from the first intensity to a second intensity;
• determining whether, in response to the stimulation being modified from the first intensity to the second intensity, a first physiological measurement has changed by a first amount;
• determining whether, in response to the stimulation being modified from the first intensity to the second intensity, a second physiological measurement has changed by a second amount;
• and
• delivering the stimulation at the first intensity or the second intensity based on at least one of the determination of whether the first physiological measurement has changed by the first amount or the determination of whether the second physiological measurement has changed by the second amount,
• wherein at least one of the first physiological measurement or the second physiological measurement is a respiratory measurement.
