Abstract

This application provides a communication method and apparatus. The communication method and apparatus are applied to an ultra-wideband-based wireless personal area network system, including 802.15 series protocols such as the 802.15.4a protocol, the 802.15.4z protocol, or the 802.15.4ab protocol, and further supporting a next-generation Wi-Fi protocol of IEEE 802.11ax, for example, 802.11be, Wi-Fi 7, or an extremely high throughput, and 802.11b. The method includes: A transmitting device transmits a first signal to a receiving device, where the first signal is used to indicate N bits, and a value of each bit is determined based on a magnitude relationship between average energies in two burst intervals; and the receiving device determines to wake up the receiving device based on the first signal. One-bit information is transmitted based on two burst intervals, so that the receiving device can correctly demodulate the first signal, thereby helping effectively wake up the receiving device.
