A driver device is configured to operate a speaker device to generate an audio signal. The speaker device includes at least one membrane configured to generate an ultrasonic acoustic signal and at least one shutter configured to modulate the ultrasonic acoustic signal. The driver device includes a plurality of combined charge pump and output driver (CCPD) cells. Each CCPD includes a single or multi-stage voltage multiplier with a pump input and pump output; a local charge storage capacitor; and an output buffer. The pump input of a first CCPD is connected to a pump output of a second CCPD. A controller is configured to operate the CCPD stack to generate an ultrasonic driving signal for the membrane and generate an ultrasonic driving signal for the shutter.
