Abstract

Methods and systems include initializing a transaction at a first device and sending, via a paired connection between the first device and a second device, a request for encrypted card data configured to be utilized to complete the transaction. The encrypted card data may be received responsive to the request, and capabilities of the second device may be determined indicating modalities for receiving card data at the second device. A modality by which the card data was received may be determined and a determination may be made that the modality is one of the modalities indicated by the capabilities of the second device. The encrypted card data may be decrypted based at least in part on the modality being one of the modalities, and the transaction may be processed utilizing the decrypted card data.

Dependent claims

A first device for enhancing secure communications between devices, the first device comprising:

one or more processors;
and
non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the first device to perform operations comprising:
initializing a transaction at the first device;
sending, via a paired connection between the first device and a second device, a request for encrypted card data configured to be utilized to complete the transaction, the request causing the second device to initiate an application for receiving the encrypted card data;
receiving, via the paired connection and from the second device, the encrypted card data responsive to the request;
determining capabilities of the second device, the capabilities indicating modalities for receiving card data at the second device;
determining a modality by which the card data was received;
determining that the modality is one of the modalities indicated by the capabilities of the second device;
decrypting the encrypted card data such that decrypted card data is generated, the decrypting based at least in part on the modality being one of the modalities;
and
processing the transaction utilizing the decrypted card data.

A method for enhancing secure communications between devices, comprising:

sending, via a paired connection between a first device and a second device, a request for encrypted card data configured to be utilized to complete a transaction, the request causing the second device to initiate an application for receiving the encrypted card data;
receiving, via the paired connection and from the second device, the encrypted card data responsive to the request;
determining capabilities of the second device for receiving card data at the second device;
determining a device capability by which the card data was received;
determining that the device capability is one of the capabilities of the second device;
decrypting the encrypted card data such that decrypted card data is generated, the decrypting based at least in part on the device capability being one of the capabilities of the second device;
and
processing the transaction utilizing the decrypted card data.
