Mixing Device And Methods For Making Bone Cement

A mixing device for making bone cement from bone cement components, the mixing device comprising:

• a housing;
• a chamber within the housing and defining an outlet port, and an inlet opening;
• a piston movably disposed in the chamber;
• a mixing paddle rotatably disposed within the chamber;
• and
• a motor operably coupled to the piston and the mixing paddle, wherein the motor is configured to rotate the mixing paddle and move the piston within the chamber;
• a funneling device comprising a first numerical indicia corresponding to a first step of an operational workflow;
• a slider movably coupled to the housing and comprising a door movable to cover the inlet opening, wherein the slider comprises a second numerical indicia corresponding to a second step of the operational workflow;
• and
• a release assembly coupled to the housing to releasably establish sealed fluid communication between the outlet port and an inlet port of a delivery device, wherein the release assembly comprises a third numerical indicia corresponding to a third step of the operational workflow.

A mixing device for making bone cement from bone cement components, the mixing device comprising:

• a housing comprising an upper shell defining an aperture;
• a chamber within the housing and defining an inlet opening, and an outlet port configured to be removably coupled to a delivery device;
• a piston movably disposed in the chamber;
• a mixing paddle rotatably disposed within the chamber;
• and
• a motor operably coupled to the piston and the mixing paddle, wherein the motor is configured to rotate the mixing paddle and move the piston within the chamber;
• and
• a slider movably coupled to the housing and comprising a door movable to cover the inlet opening, wherein the door is positioned between the aperture and the inlet opening, wherein the door is configured to cover the inlet opening in a manner that is not fluid-tight but prevents egress of the bone cement components from the chamber during a mixing phase of an operational cycle.
