Provided is a frequency down-conversion device which receives an optical data signal and an optical subcarrier signal in an infrared light frequency band and then outputs a data signal having a radio wave band/baseband frequency. The device has a field-effect transistor structure in which source and drain electrodes, a first gate electrode having first fingers, and a second gate electrode having second fingers are arranged on a mesa. The first and second fingers are arranged in a nested state, the second gate electrode receives a local transmission signal having a frequency in a band between the sub-terahertz band and the terahertz band and close to a difference between the frequencies of the optical data signal and the optical subcarrier signal. The data signal having a frequency corresponding to the absolute difference between a predetermined frequency and the difference frequency is output from the first gate electrode.
A frequency down-conversion device receiving input of an optical data signal and an optical subcarrier signal having different frequencies in an infrared optical frequency band, and outputting a data signal having a frequency in a radio wave band or a baseband, wherein
