Abstract
Particles having a core including a water soluble flame retardant, such as ammonium polyphosphate and a shell including polyphenols, such as lignosulfonates. These particles may be used as flame retardants, in particular in polymer foams.
Claims21
Particles, comprising:
- a core comprising a water-soluble flame retardant, and
- a shell comprising polyphenols, preferably bio-based polyphenols,
- wherein the particles have a size of between 100 nm-1 μm as measured by DLS, and
- wherein the water-soluble flame retardant has a water solubility of at least 1 g/ml @ 25° C.
