Separation membrane complex and method of producing separation membrane complex

A method of producing a separation membrane complex, the method comprising:

• a) depositing a seed crystal of a metal organic framework on a support that is porous;
• b) preparing a starting material solution of a metal organic framework;
• c) immersing said support in said starting material solution to form a membrane of said metal organic framework on said support by Solvothermal synthesis, said membrane of said metal organic framework having a mean pore diameter of greater than or equal to 0.40 nm and less than or equal to 0.90 nm;
• and
• d) bringing an amine-containing solution into contact with a surface of said membrane of said metal organic framework.
