Method and Apparatus for Configuring Various Gaps for a Terminal in Wireless Mobile Communication System

A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:

• a transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals;
• and
• a controller configured to control the transceiver to:
• receive, from a base station, a first RRCReconfiguration message requesting preference information related to gap for power management;
• transmit, to the base station, a UEAssistanceInformation message including preference information related to gap for power management in response to the first RRCReconfiguration message;
• receive, from the base station, a second RRCReconfiguration message including gap configuration information related to gap for power management;
• and
• configure a gap for power management based on time division duplex (TDD) uplink (UL)/downlink (DL) configuration information and the gap configuration information;
• wherein the gap configuration information includes a gap repetition period,
• wherein a starting subframe of the configured gap is determined based on whether the gap repetition period is greater than 5 milliseconds (ms),
• wherein a starting slot of the configured gap is determined based on the tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon,
• wherein the configured gap consists of one or more static uplink slots and number of the one or more static uplink slots is determined based on the TDD UL/DL configuration information and the gap configuration information, and
• wherein, during the configured gap, the terminal performs only transmission of:
• Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) resource if random access procedure is triggered;
• Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) allocation for scheduling request (SR) if the SR is triggered;
• and
• Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) if configured grant is activated.

A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

• transmitting, to a terminal, a System Information Block 1 (SIB1) including time division duplex (TDD) uplink (UL)/downlink (DL) configuration information;
• transmitting, to the terminal, a first RRCReconfiguration message requesting preference information related to gap for power management;
• receiving, from the terminal, a UEAssistanceInformation message including preference information related to gap for power management in response to the first RRCReconfiguration message;
• transmitting, to the terminal, a second RRCReconfiguration message including gap configuration information related to gap for power management;
• and
• not receiving, from the terminal, any transmission except specific transmissions during the gap for power management;
• wherein the gap for power management is configured based on the TDD UL/DL configuration information and the gap configuration information;
• and
• wherein the specific transmissions comprise:
• transmission of Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) resource if random access procedure is triggered;
• transmission of Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) allocation for scheduling request (SR) if the SR is triggered;
• and
• transmission of Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) if configured grant is activated.

A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:

• a transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals;
• and
• a controller configured to control the transceiver to:
• transmit, to a terminal, a System Information Block 1 (SIB1) including time division duplex (TDD) uplink (UL)/downlink (DL) configuration information;
• transmit, to the terminal, a first RRCReconfiguration message requesting preference information related to gap for power management;
• receive, from the terminal, UEAssistanceInformation including preference information related to gap for power management in response to the first RRCReconfiguration message;
• transmit, to the terminal, a second RRCReconfiguration message including gap configuration information related to gap for power management;
• and
• not receive, from the terminal, any transmission except specific transmissions during the gap for power management;
• wherein the gap for power management is configured based on the TDD UL/DL configuration information and the gap configuration information;
• and
• wherein the specific transmissions comprise:
• transmission of Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) resource if random access procedure is triggered;
• transmission of Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) allocation for scheduling request (SR) if the SR is triggered;
• and
• transmission of Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) if configured grant is activated.
