In some implementations, a method is provided for automatically discovering and configuring internet of things (IoT) devices on a network. A network address server receives a request for a network address for a device that is connecting to the network, provides the network address for the device, and logs a connection event to an event data store. A device service platform receives the connection event and determines, based at least in part on a device identifier of the device, whether the device is to be serviced. If the device is to be serviced, a configuration operation is automatically performed for the device by the device service platform. The configuration operation can include determining a device model of the device, receiving configuration settings that have been specified for the device model, and applying the configuration settings to the device.
