Techniques for identifying and classifying distribution network transient pressure events comprising receiving time series pressure data from a plurality of sensors in a system. Identifying, based at least in part on the time series pressure data, a pressure change in a portion of the system. Generating, based at least in part on the identifying of the pressure change, a severity score associated with the pressure change. Determining that the severity score is greater than or equal to a threshold. Based at least in part on the severity score being greater than or equal to the threshold, generating a transient pressure event and displaying descriptive information identifying the transient pressure event and one or more response tools for responding to the transient pressure event.
