Computer-implemented Method and Apparatus for Generating Navigation Instructions

An apparatus for generating navigation instructions, the apparatus comprising:

• an in-drive alternative route calculated on a location of a navigation device and on a main route, wherein the in-drive alternative route differs partially from the main route;
• an indication for the in-drive alternative route based on a location of the navigation device on the main route;
• an input by a user of the navigation device associated with the indication of the in-drive alternative route;
• navigation instructions generated based on the input by the user of the navigation device, the navigation instructions guiding the user of the navigation device via the in-drive alternative route and back to the main route;
• and
• communicator for sending the generated navigation instructions to the user through the navigation device.

A vehicle comprising the apparatus for generating navigation instructions, the apparatus including:

• an in-drive alternative route based on a location of a navigation device and on a main route, wherein the in-drive alternative route differs partially from the main route;
• an indication for the in-drive alternative route based on a location of the navigation device on the main route;
• an input by a user of the navigation device associated with the indication of the in-drive alternative route;
• navigation instructions generated based on the input by the user of the navigation device, the navigation instructions for guiding the user of the navigation device via the in-drive alternative route and back to the main route;
• and
• communicator for sending the generated navigation instructions to the user through the navigation device.
