Modular scope mounts and accessory mounts

A scope mount for a firearm, the scope mount comprising:

• a body configured to attach to an upper receiver of the firearm, the body defining a lower scope mount portion;
• and
• a scope mount cap configured to engage the lower scope mount portion of the body, at least a portion of the scope mount cap and at least a portion of the lower scope mount portion of the body collectively defining a passage configured to receive a scope therethrough along a longitudinal direction of the body,
• wherein the body defines at least one lateral accessory mount point comprising an opening extending in a lateral direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the opening defined at a height below a height of the passage.

A firearm comprising:

• an upper receiver;
• and
• a scope mount for a firearm, the scope mount comprising:
• a body configured to attach to an upper receiver of the firearm, the body defining a lower scope mount portion;
• and
• a scope mount cap configured to engage the lower scope mount portion of the body, at least a portion of the scope mount cap and at least a portion of the lower scope mount portion of the body collectively defining a passage configured to receive a scope therethrough along a longitudinal direction of the body,
• wherein the body defines at least one lateral accessory mount point comprising an opening extending in a lateral direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the opening defined at a height below a height of the passage, and
• wherein the scope mount is configured to engage the upper receiver.
