Abstract
Microbes are transformed with psilocybin genes under the control of weak or medium level promoter to make low levels of psilocybin therein. Low dose, microdose and sub-microdose foodstuff are then made with such microbes.
Claims11
A foodstuff made with a recombinant generally recognized as safe (GRAS) microbe that produces psilocybin, wherein said foodstuff has <10 mg or preferably <1 mg of psilocybin per serving of said foodstuff.
A foodstuff made with a psilocybin producing recombinant microbe,
- a) said microbe being of a species generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for human consumption;
- b) said microbe expressing each of a PsiD gene, a PsiH gene, a PsiK gene, and a PsiM gene, each gene under the control of a weak promoter;
- and
- a) wherein said foodstuff has <10 mg or preferably <1 mg of psilocybin per serving of said foodstuff.
