Printing apparatus and control method thereof

A printing apparatus comprising:

• a mounting unit configured so that a head that ejects ink can be mounted in a replaceable manner;
• a tank configured to contain ink to be supplied to the head via a tube;
• a pump configured to discharge ink to an outside of the head;
• a detection unit configured to detect that the head mounted on the mounting unit has been detached and then attached;
• an obtainment unit configured to obtain information of a usage history which indicates whether or not the head mounted as a detachment and attachment has been used;
• and
• a control unit configured to control a discharge operation, which is performed by the pump after head detachment and attachment, to be changed based on the information of the usage history,
• wherein the control unit is configured to drive the pump at a first driving amount in a case where the information of the usage history indicates that the head mounted as the detachment and attachment is unused, and
• wherein the control unit is configured to drive the pump at a second driving amount, which is greater than the first driving amount, in a case where the information of the usage history indicates that the head mounted as the detachment and attachment has been used.
