The present disclosure relates to compositions including a UV absorbing system including at least one physical ultraviolet (UV)-attenuating material and substantially spherical cellulose particles, as well as to methods of making and using such compositions.

A composition comprising a UV absorbing system comprising at least one physical ultraviolet (UV)-attenuating material, preferably at least one metal oxide selected from oxides of titanium, chromium, zinc, tin, alumina, cerium, and/or iron, and substantially spherical cellulose particles, wherein the substantially spherical cellulose particles are present in an amount sufficient to increase UV efficacy of the composition.
