Abstract
The present disclosure relates to compositions including a UV absorbing system including at least one physical ultraviolet (UV)-attenuating material, at least two polyols, and at least one anionic polysaccharide thickening agent, as well as to methods of making and using such compositions.

A composition comprising at least one physical ultraviolet (UV)-attenuating material, preferably at least one metal oxide, preferably at least one metal oxide selected from oxides of titanium, chromium, zinc, tin, alumina, cerium, and/or iron;
- at least two polyols;
- and at least one anionic polysaccharide thickening agent, with the at least one anionic polysaccharide thickening agent preferably being at least one anionic polysaccharide gum, preferably selected from the group consisting of carboxymethylcellulose, carrageenan, xanthan, hyaluronate and mixtures thereof.
