Techniques for reducing latency in transmitting paging signals in wireless communications

A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• receiving, from a network node, an indication of whether paging messages in at least one of multiple paging occasions of a discontinuous receive (DRX) cycle are broadcasted in all of a set of multiple beams or in a portion of the set of multiple beams that does not include all beams in the set of multiple beams;
• and
• receiving, based on the indication, one or more paging messages in the at least one of multiple paging occasions of the DRX cycle.

A method for wireless communication at a network node, comprising:

• transmitting, using a subset of configured beams, one or more first paging messages in a first paging occasion of multiple paging occasions of a discontinuous receive (DRX) cycle;
• and
• transmitting, for a user equipment (UE) having a paging priority that achieves a threshold, and using at least one of the subset of configured beams that is associated with the UE, one or more second paging messages in a second paging occasion of the multiple paging occasions of the DRX cycle.
