Abstract
A disclosed method may include receiving, by a server of a mobile operator across a first channel, a first International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) in an initial Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message from a User Equipment (UE) in which an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) embedded the first IMSI such that a second IMSI that the mobile operator provisioned to a subscriber is protected by the first IMSI initially substituting for the second IMSI.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a server of a mobile operator across a first channel, a first International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) in an initial Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message from a User Equipment (UE) in which an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) embedded the first IMSI such that a second IMSI that the mobile operator provisioned to a subscriber is protected by the first IMSI initially substituting for the second IMSI;
- establishing, by the server of the mobile operator based on the first IMSI in the initial NAS message, a second channel with the UE that is encrypted;
- and
- receiving, by the server of the mobile operator from the UE over the second channel that is encrypted and in response to establishing the second channel with the UE in which the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) embedded the first IMSI, a subsequent NAS message that includes the second IMSI that the mobile operator provisioned to the subscriber.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium that has instructions stored thereon that, when executed by at least one physical computing processor, cause a computing device to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, by a server of a mobile operator across a first channel, a first International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) in an initial Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message from a User Equipment (UE) in which an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) embedded the first IMSI such that a second IMSI that the mobile operator provisioned to a subscriber is protected by the first IMSI initially substituting for the second IMSI;
- establishing, by the server of the mobile operator based on the first IMSI in the initial NAS message, a second channel with the UE that is encrypted;
- and
- receiving, by the server of the mobile operator from the UE over the second channel that is encrypted and in response to establishing the second channel with the UE in which the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) embedded the first IMSI, a subsequent NAS message that includes the second IMSI that the mobile operator provisioned to the subscriber.
A system comprising:
- at least one physical computing processor of a computing device;
- and
- a non-transitory computer-readable medium that has instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the at least one physical computing processor, cause the computing device to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, by a server of a mobile operator across a first channel, a first International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) in an initial Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message from a User Equipment (UE) in which an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) embedded the first IMSI such that a second IMSI that the mobile operator provisioned to a subscriber is protected by the first IMSI initially substituting for the second IMSI;
- establishing, by the server of the mobile operator based on the first IMSI in the initial NAS message, a second channel with the UE that is encrypted;
- and
- receiving, by the server of the mobile operator from the UE over the second channel that is encrypted and in response to establishing the second channel with the UE in which the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) embedded the first IMSI, a subsequent NAS message that includes the second IMSI that the mobile operator provisioned to the subscriber.
