Abstract
A virtual reality play area is defined. Movement of an object in the vicinity of the play area may then be detected. Based on the movement of the object, it may be determined whether the object is projected to enter the play area. If the object is projected to enter the play area, a representation of the object is generated for display to the user.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- generating for display, at a virtual reality device, a media content stream;
- determining that a first distance between a position of a user and a boundary of a play area is less than a first threshold distance;
- in response to determining that the first distance is less than the first threshold distance:
- pausing output of the media content stream;
- determining whether a second distance between the position of the user and a position of a center of the play area is less than a second threshold distance;
- and
- in response to determining that the second distance is less than the second threshold distance:
- resuming the output of the media content stream.

A system comprising:
- control circuitry configured to:
- generate for display, at a virtual reality device, a media content stream;
- determine that a first distance between a position of a user and a boundary of a play area is less than a first threshold distance;
- in response to determining that the first distance is less than the first threshold distance:
- pause output of the media content stream;
- determine whether a second distance between the position of the user and a position of a center of the play area is less than a second threshold distance;
- and
- in response to determining that the second distance is less than the second threshold distance:
- resume the output of the media content stream.
