Techniques for adding accessories to ecosystems

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of a computer system that is in communication with one or more input devices, the one or more programs including instructions for:

• detecting, via the one or more input devices, an input corresponding to a request to add an accessory device to an ecosystem corresponding to a first application;
• in response to detecting the input corresponding to the request to add the accessory device to the ecosystem, initiating a process to add the accessory device to the ecosystem, wherein the process to add the accessory device to the ecosystem includes:
• in accordance with a determination that a second application is not installed on the computer system, initiating a process to install the second application, wherein the second application corresponds to the accessory device, and wherein the second application is different from the first application;
• and
• in accordance with a determination that the second application is installed on the computer system, forgoing initiation of the process to install the second application;
• and
• after installing the second application as part of the process to add the accessory device to the ecosystem and in accordance with a determination that a set of one or more automatic removal criteria is satisfied, removing the second application without detecting a user input to remove the second application.

A computer system configured to communicate with one or more input devices, the computer system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:
• detecting, via the one or more input devices, an input corresponding to a request to add an accessory device to an ecosystem corresponding to a first application;
• in response to detecting the input corresponding to the request to add the accessory device to the ecosystem, initiating a process to add the accessory device to the ecosystem, wherein the process to add the accessory device to the ecosystem includes:
• in accordance with a determination that a second application is not installed on the computer system, initiating a process to install the second application, wherein the second application corresponds to the accessory device, and wherein the second application is different from the first application;
• and
• in accordance with a determination that the second application is installed on the computer system, forgoing initiation of the process to install the second application;
• and
• after installing the second application as part of the process to add the accessory device to the ecosystem and in accordance with a determination that a set of one or more automatic removal criteria is satisfied, removing the second application without detecting a user input to remove the second application.
