Motion tracking for devices on moving vehicles

A computer program product, the computer program product being tangibly embodied on a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium and comprising instructions that, when executed by at least one computing device, are configured to cause the at least one computing device to:

• receive a first sensor signal from a first sensor coupled to an extended reality device within a moving frame of reference;
• receive a second sensor signal from an image sensor within the moving frame of reference and in communication with the extended reality device;
• and
• determine a motion of the extended reality device with respect to the moving frame of reference, based on the first sensor signal and the second sensor signal.

A system comprising:

• at least one frame for positioning a head mounted device (HMD) on a face of a user;
• at least one camera;
• at least one motion sensor;
• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory, the at least one memory storing a set of instructions, which, when executed, cause the at least one processor to:
• receive a first sensor signal from the at least one camera and the at least one motion sensor within a moving frame of reference;
• receive a second sensor signal from an image sensor within the moving frame of reference and in communication with the HMD;
• and
• determine a motion of the HMD with respect to the moving frame of reference, based on the first sensor signal and the second sensor signal.

A method comprising:

• receiving a first signal from a first motion sensor that includes an ultrawideband (UWB) sensor;
• receiving a second signal from a second motion sensor;
• determining, based on the first signal and the second signal, a position and orientation of a controller;
• and
• controlling a computing device based on the position and orientation of the controller.
