A system for separating a gas mixture is provided. The system includes a source of a gas mixture comprising methane, carbon dioxide, and water, a first membrane stage in fluid communication with the source, and a process gas drying unit including a membrane. The first membrane stage is designed to separate the gas mixture into a first retentate stream and a first permeate stream. The process gas drying unit is in fluid communication with the first permeate stream and creates a dehydrated gas stream from the first permeate stream. The system also includes a measuring device designed to measure a parameter of the dehydrated gas stream to determine a measured value, a valve in fluid communication with the process gas drying unit, and a controller in communication with the measuring device and the valve. The controller is designed to actuate the valve in response to the measured value.
