Medical device chuck with rotating fiducial marker array

A method of using a mechanical chuck, the method comprising:

• locating a cylindrical portion of a separate object defining a longitudinal axis within a central opening of a mechanical chuck having a plurality of jaws, a chuck adjustment mechanism, and a main body with front and back sides, the central opening extending from the front to back sides, wherein the cylindrical portion is located between the plurality of jaws and extends past both the front and back sides of the main body;
• manipulating the chuck adjustment mechanism while the cylindrical portion is located between the plurality of jaws and extends past both the front and back sides of the main body;
• closing the plurality of jaws onto the cylindrical portion, wherein the plurality of jaws include contact regions that clamp onto the cylindrical portion such that the mechanical chuck cannot slide laterally along the cylindrical portion or pivot about the longitudinal axis relative to the cylindrical portion;
• and
• allowing relative rotation between the mechanical chuck and a rotating sleeve component coupled to the mechanical chuck while the contact regions are clamped onto the cylindrical portion, wherein the relative rotation is about the longitudinal axis.
