Bone clip with resilient arm for proximal compression

A method for stabilizing a first bone part and a second bone part, the method comprising:

• inserting a first leg of a bone clip into a first hole in the first bone part and a second leg of the bone clip into a second hole in the second bone part;
• applying a first compressive force to the first bone part via a first resilient arm as the first leg of the bone clip is inserted into the first hole;
• applying a second compressive force to the second bone part via a second resilient arm as the second leg of the bone clip is inserted into the second hole;
• and
• compressing a gap between the first bone part and the second bone part when applying the first compressive force and the second compressive force.

A method for stabilizing a first bone part and a second bone part, the method comprising:

• using an insertion tool, applying downward stress to a central region of a bridge of a bone clip and upward stress at or near ends of the bridge, the upward stress being applied by pulling upward on one or more tabs protruding from the bone clip, the one or more tabs being mated with one or more cutouts of the insertion tool;
• using the insertion tool, increasing a distance between a first leg and a second leg of the bone clip to obtain a stressed configuration;
• using the insertion tool, inserting the first leg into a first hole in the first bone part and the second leg into a second hole in the second bone part;
• and
• compressing a gap between the first bone part and the second bone part when inserting the first leg into the first hole and the second leg into the second hole.
